Five Common Errors When Writing About Literature:

1.       Do not simply summarize the story or repeat lengthy plot details.

2.       Do not plagiarize. Use your own words and thoughts for this paper.

3.       Do not belabor the obvious. Assume an intelligent and informed audience.

4.       Do not restate what we have discussed in class: be original.

5.       Do not tell us whether or not you liked the story: this isn't like a movie review.
