Introduction and Histology System

back to 2113 VARK

1) Make a list of all of the tissue types (major & subtypes) found in a stomach, skin, heart. blood vessel, and skeletal muscle attached to a bone. (K, V)

2) Make a list of any words that you do not understand in your lecture notes.

    a)  Look up the definitions of these words in your textbook, dictionary or other source.  Then write sentences using those words in the proper context.  Share your answers verbally with other people.  (R, A)

    b) Look up the roots that are used to make those words.  Can you think of other words that use those roots and what those other words mean?  Are there some similarities between these words?

3) Write poems (e.g. limericks, haiku, etc.) about the different tissues types. Describing either function, location or form. (R, A)

4) Draw a concept map with the key characteristics of the four major tissue types. (V)

5) Think of five homeostatic or protective mechanisms that the skin performs during a typical day.  Write a story about a person going through that day and how the homeostatic mechanisms are carried out during the day.  (R) If you are an aural learner, tell someone else the story.

6) Make physical models of different tissue types using clay, playdo, or other materials. Be creative.  (K)
