Lymphatic System
1. Imagine you are a lipid
molecule absorbed in the digestive tract. What would your
pathway be to get to the bloodstream. You do not need names of
specific vessels, except for the last one before entering the
bloodstream. Can write this as a story (R,A) or flow chart (V) |
2. Make a table with all the lymphatic
organs heading rows and the following topics for the columns: functions,
location, structure and cell types found in organ. (V, R)
|
Immunity
1. On a piece of paper, write in the
middle of it the word "pathogen". Then build a mind map around it
with all the ways the body will try to prevent that pathogen from
infecting the body and reproducing. (V)
|
2. Draw a flow
chart of what would happen if a pathogen would enter the body.
First, start with a bacterium trying to gain entry (first line of
defense) then show what happens if it is successful. What
non-specific resistance and specific immunity mechanisms will be
involved? Then, show what will happen if a virus infects a cell
and what non-specific resistance and specific immunity mechanisms will
be involved. (V).
|
3. Imagine you are a pathogen (Slippery
Sam). Write or tell your story as you go through the
body and evade non-specific mechanisms but finally
get taken down by humoral immunity. (R, A) |
4. Draw a flow chart or
mind map of the activities of inflammation starting with the
release of inflammatory chemicals. Next go to what effects the
chemicals have, e.g., what actions do they take, and then what
cardinal signs do they cause and what benefits come from these
actions. |
