Arithmetic Study Materials for the Accuplacer Exam

The Arithmetic test measures your skills in three main categories:

a. Operations with whole number and fractions.

This includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division along with  recognizing equivalent fractions and mixed numbers.

b. Operations with decimals and percents.

This includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division along with percent problems, decimal recognition, fraction percent equivalencies and estimation problems.

c. Applications and problem solving.

This includes rate, percent, measurement and geometry problems along with distribution of a quantity into its fractional parts.

Print out the Practice Exam linked below.  Work through each problem and if you don't understand a question, use the TEGRITY video solutions to watch a video presentation of the worked out solution.

The following file is a sample test made by the ARCC math department. Note: this test consists of 34 problems, but the actual exam is 20 problems.

Two sample questions for the Arithmetic test:

2. A recipe for a batch of chocolate chip cookies uses   of a cup of sugar.

How many cups of sugar are used in  batches of these cookies?

The answer to sample question 1 is D and the answer to sample question 2 is C.
