Anoka-Ramsey Chemistry Department

The Chemistry Department has state of the art facilities located on both campuses. Lecture classrooms feature the latest in multimedia equipment, while the instructional laboratories are equipped with computers that utilize data acquisition hardware and software from Vernier Software and Technology.

Students will find ease in transferability, as the courses offered by the department are the standard courses offered in the first two years at most colleges and universities in the country. The department offers a one-semester introductory course designed for non-science majors (Chem 1020), a two-semester principles course designed for science majors (Chem 1061/1062), and a two-semester organic chemistry course (Chem 2061/2062).

An advising guidelines worksheet has been developed for students thinking of taking Chem 1061. Use it to help decide if you are sufficiently prepared for Chem 1061. If you have questions, talk to any faculty member or visit a counselor or academic advisor.

The chemistry faculty have an excellent reputation in the local community and transfer institutions. The faculty and their students are often found at area elementary schools, bringing chemistry alive in the classrooms or serving as science fair judges. Contact a member of the chemistry department to learn more. In September 2001, the department played host to a national conference of the Two-Year College Chemistry Consortium (2YC3).
