Application to the CNET Programs

WELCOME TO OUR COMPUTER NETWORKING PROGRAMS!

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is committed to developing skills and abilities necessary for successful employment in Network Support and Help Desk occupations. These programs offer in-depth training to individuals seeking job entry as well as career enhancement. Careers in these fields require a detail-oriented individual proficient at problem solving and troubleshooting.

The CNET Program application assists in assessing your experience with microcomputing along with your plan for completing a one- or two-year curriculum within an appropriate timeline. The Director of Networking Programs will review your application and notify you of program acceptance.

Program admission is required before enrollment in CNET 2112, CNET 2113, CNET 2301 and CNET 2297. CNET 1101 and CNET 2101 are open to all students on a space available basis. Students admitted into the CNET programs are eligible for priority registration in all CNET program courses.

PROGRAM ADMISSION

To be accepted in the program the following items must be completed:

  • Completion of Application for Admission to ARCC (new students only)

  • Completion of CNET Program Application

  • Placement testing

  • Phone or personal interview with the Director of Networking Programs (you will be contacted to schedule the interview)

  • The director will review applications for the CNET program on an ongoing basis. Interested students are encouraged to apply early. The Director of the Computer Networking Programs will send a letter of approval/denial based on verified criteria.

    MINIMUM COMPUTING COMPETENCE

    Before applying for program admission, students should have adequate preparation or experience with the basics of personal computing.

    Program applicants should possess the following:

    • have keyboarding ability of at least 25-wpm

    • be knowledgeable users of Windows 2000–XP

    • be able to use an Internet browser

    • create documents using a word processing program

    • have an active high-speed or internet dial-up account

    PREVIOUS EDUCATION

    If you have previously attended another college or university for which you have earned courses applicable to this program, please request official transcripts from each institution to be sent directly to our Admissions and Records Office.
