Learning & Assessment Using the D2L Assignments Tool
The D2L ASSIGNMENTS tool has the following
general uses:
-
Sharing and Receiving Electronic Assignments
-
Managing Assignment Deadlines and Grading
Specific Active Learning and Assessment Activities
1. Inquiry-Based Learning
This is an eight-step process
that begins with an essential question and ends with a knowledge product
presented by students; an online “project page” can be used to facilitate
learning and to offer web links relevant to the process. Go to http://www.biopoint.com/inquiry/ibr.html
for details.
2. Application Assignments
Students apply foundational knowledge
to solve a problem, or analyze a text.
3. Choice
Students select from alternative
assignments or alternative topics within an assignment
4. Book Seminar Papers
One page papers that require students
to use exact pages and paragraphs to show what a text says, what a text
means, and why the point they selected is important. (This is an assignment
version of an activity listed for Class Discussion.)
5. Student Presentations
Technology-enhanced research can
be shared with the entire class and critiqued by both students and instructor.
