CHAT is a synchronous interactive tool that allows participants to hold real-time conversations online.  Use CHAT when you want to:

To access this tool, from any screen in your D2L course site, click on CHAT in the navigation bar at the top of your D2L screen.  From the main CHAT screen you will see:

Create a CHAT Room

  1. Select CREATE CHAT (button at top right of the main CHAT screen (see Fig. 1 above).
  2. Select the type of CHAT you want to create.  Use GENERAL chat for course chat rooms; PERSONAL chat allows you to restrict the chat room participants.  For this scenario, we will assume you are creating a GENERAL chat.
  3. NEXT.
  4. enter a CHAT title in the text field.
  5. Enter a description in the text field.
  6. CREATE.

Adding CHAT Messages

  1. Click on a CHAT title to enter the chat room.
  2. Type text in the small text field bar at the bottom of the CHAT screen.
  3. ADD.
