After you have entered the questions into the Question Library, you are ready to set up quiz.  On the main QUIZ screen, select New Quiz. Use the Layout/Questions tab to set up the quiz layout and add or remove questions or sections to a quiz.

  • Click the Add/Edit Questions button to create new questions or import questions from the Questions Library or another quiz.

To add questions to your quiz, you may choose to create new questions or you may Import questions from the Question Library or another source.  If you are importing questions from the Question Library:
  • Use the drop-down menu to select the Source Collection: Question Library.
  • Source Section: Collection Root
  • This will open a list of the section folders and questions that you have saved in the Question Library.
  • Check the boxes beside the questions you want to add to this new quiz.
  • SAVE.
  • Now you are ready to format your quiz.
  • After the desired questions have been added, the quiz layout can be formatted.
  • You can automatically display a certain number of questions per page by typing the desired value in the Auto-Format box (which does not appear until after you have added questions to the quiz).
  • Click GO.
  • To manually insert a page break, click on the gray line where the page break is to be located.  Page breaks are represented by blue lines.  A small number of questions per  page helps to decrease page load time.   Allowing students to view only one question at a time will make it more difficult for them to try to print out a copy of the quiz, especially if you set a strict time limit for completing the test and you allow only one attempt.
  • SAVE QUIZ.
  • You may choose to have a unique copy of the quiz presented  to each student by generating a random set of questions.

Random Set of Questions
A unique quiz can be created for each user by generating a random set of questions.  There are no limits to the number or types of questions in a quiz.  You must create a quiz before adding a random set of questions.

Creating a random section folder:

  1. Go to the Quiz List and select the quiz where random questions will be added.
  2. Select the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Click Add/Edit Questions.
  4. Choose Random Section from the drop down menu and click GO.
  5. Enter a Section Name (e.g., "random short answers")
  6. Optional: Add a message to be displayed (e.g., "The next 5 questions will involve theBiology and Chemistry unit.")
  7. Choose from the display option and SAVE.
  8. You have returned to the main quiz screen.  Click on the folder you just created (it should be green).
  9. Select the Import icon.
  10. Select the questions you want to import.  You can automatically select all the questions in one folder by clicking the box beside automatically select sub-elements and then click on the desired folder.
  11. Once you have selected all the question you want included in the question set, click SAVE.
  12. Now you have returned to the screen that displays all the questions in the random folder (shoud be a light shade of green).  Delete any questions that you do not want to import.
  13. Select the number of questions you wish to use from that random set of questions and assign a grade value for the questions.
  14. SAVE.
