This workshop is offered on campus as a series of three 1-hour tutorials or one 3-hour workshop.

Overview of D2L and tour of model sites
  • D2L sites are fully integrated with ISRS, so the classlist will be automatically loaded into you course site each semester.

Customizing Your Learning Environment: Setting Course Colors, Adding/Removing Course Tools, Customizing Course Navigation Bar

Communication Tools: Calendar, News, Pager, Email, Discussions, Chat, Classlist
  • D2L course calendar reminds students of test dates, assignment due dates, and any other class events that the teacher may want to post.
  • The D2L course site provides teacher and students with a class email system that is internal to the class and separate from other college email.
  • Students can use the D2L chat and discussion tools to work together outside of class time on group projects and group assignments.
Teacher Tools: Manage Participants, Course Feedback, Broken Link Viewer, Classlist
Personal Tools: Locker and Journal.
  • The D2L locker provides each student with an area to upload files of work in progress at home or on campus.  Students no longer have to carry discs that are easily damaged or lost.
III Content Creation: Manage Files, Manage Content, Manage Course Components, Glossary, FAQ, Links
  • Students can access the course syllabus, handouts, assigned readings and electronic resources online.
Evaluation Tools: Dropbox, Quizzes, Surveys
  • Students can submit assignments electronically through the D2L dropbox.  Practice quizzes and tests can also be administered online.
Participant Feedback: Grades, Statistics, Checklist
  • D2L provides teachers with a secure electronic gradebook that allows students to access grade information 24/7.
