D2L for Experienced IMS Users (6 hours): This
workshop is especially designed for faculty who have already had previous
training and experience building course sites in WebCT. The workshop
will begin with an overview of the D2L platform. Participants will
follow a step-by-step guide to rebuild an existing online course in the
new D2L platform. Emphasis will be on features and applications that
are unique to D2L. In the process of this course revision, we will
also explore ways to strengthen courses by incorporating more active learning
strategies in instruction.
Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will
have
customized the learning environment in one
of their D2L course sites,
developed a revision plan for the course content
that includes at least one new active learning strategy in each unit,
implemented an assessment plan that clearly
assesses student achievement of each of the course outcomes.

At the end of the workshop, participants will
complete the following assessments:
The quality of the learning environment in
the course sites will be assessed by the workshop leader and workshop participants
using the rubric developed by Barbar J. Kenaith, Ph.D. and Lesley Blicker,
M.M.A. which is available at http://www.metrostate.edu/col/rubric.html.
At the end of the workshop, each participant
will submit a breif revision plan for course content that includes at least
one new active learning strategy in each course content unit.
The course site will include an assessment
plan that clearly assesses student achievement for each of the course outcomes.
