Measuring to Cut

 

There is a skill to measuring lumber or plywood properly to help insure you end up with the length or width you wanted. These next few lessons give you some suggestions as to how to measure properly. Remember the most important rule of measuring wood:

Measure Twice--Cut Once

We don't own any "board stretchers," so undercut wood can be the cause of some pretty substantial budget overruns. Even though this lesson may seem simplistic to some of you, there is a very real financial impact from improperly measured and cut materials, not to mention frustration when pieces won't fit together properly during construction.
