"I felt that the music department at Anoka-Ramsey prepared me academically more than anything.  My first class that I experienced after transferring to  Augsburg was a composition class and I immediately fell back on what I had learned in music theory. I had felt that I didn't quite understand what was going on while I was in theory class but when push came to shove and I had to actually use the theory it worked quite smoothly.  I was right up to speed along with the other students that were on campus. I was required to take a repertoire test in which I needed to listen to a piece and tell them the title, era, and composer; it was quite easy for me to take this test because I had already heard a lot of the pieces that were on the quizzes in the Music History course with Melissa.  As for my flute playing ability, for the first couple of months I felt like I was behind but I had caught up quite quickly and have gained lots of confidence in my playing.  I was immediately placed as a first flute in the concert band and now I am principal flute."
