Study AbroadThe college has developed a partnership with Zhaoquing University in Zhaoquing, Southern China. The academic focus of the program is on general education and Chinese studies. Since the inception of the partnership in 1994, our college has sent numerous students and faculty to study and teach at the Chinese university. Zhaoquing University has sent faculty to our college, to offer Chinese language and culture studies. They also have been invited as guest speakers about Chinese history and politics to Political Science classes.
The college is a member of EGL, Minnesota's 'Education for Global Learning' project. EGL is composed of more than a dozen MNSCU colleges and universities. The purpose of EGL "is to create, promote, support, and facilitate a range of international education learning opportunities and experiences for students... on the local campus, throughout the state and around the world." (Mission statement).
Through EGL students can participate in study abroad semester programs in Alajuela, Costa Rica, or Oxford, England. For more program details including preparatory information sessions, see: http://www.normandale.edu/financialaid/?choice=study
EGL, in partnership with the Institute for Global Studies at the University of Minnesota, also sponsors annual global education conferences that may be open to interested students.
In preparation of study abroad and international education opportunities, the college offers courses in Chinese, French, German, and Spanish.
