Alum Root (Heuchera richardsonii)

Other Common Names: Rock Geranium, Ground Maple, Midland Alumroot

Family: Saxifrage (Saxifragaceae)

Height: 1 - 2' (20 -60 cm)

Flower Size: 1/4 " (6 mm) long

Flowering Season: April - June

Ecological Preferences: Dry and/or sandy soil.

Select Characteristics: Flower stalk is typically leafless. Basal leaves are similar in shape to a maple leaf. Leaves and stem are hairy.

Historical Significance: Some plant parts were used to treat sore throats and diarrhea.
