Other Common Names: Butterfly Milkweed, Pleurisy Root

Family: Milkweed (Asclepiadaceae)

Height: 1 - 2 1/2' (30 -75 cm)

Flower Size: 3/8" (9 mm) wide, with many in a head

Flowering Season: June - September

Ecological Preferences: Dry soil

Select Characteristics: Does not exude a milky juice when broken.

Historical Significance: Some plant parts were used to treat pleurisy and other pulmonary ailments.
