Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Family: Sunflower (Asteraceae)

Height: 1 - 3' (30 - 90 cm)

Flower Size: 1/4" (6 mm) in flower clusters 1 1/2" (2.5 - 3.8 cm) across

Flowering Season: June - late August

Ecological Preferences: Roadsides and fields in a wide range of soils

Select Characteristics: The flowers are typically white, but occasionally pink. The aromatic gray-green leaves are finely dissected, appearing fernlike or almost featherlike.

Historical Significance: It has been used for food, as in salads and soups, and for medicines, as in remedies for colds and stomach disorders.
