Other Common Names: Golden Meadow Parsnip

Family: Parsley (Umbelliferae)

Height: 1 - 3' (30 -90 cm)

Flower Size: 1/8" (3.2 mm) wide

Flowering Season: April - June

Ecological Preferences: Moist open areas

Select Characteristics: The slightly reddish stem is smooth. The inflorescence, or flower cluster, is somewhat flat-topped.

Historical Significance: Certain plant parts were used to reduce fever, while other parts were powdered and used as a snuff to treat headaches. Some early European settlers thought that it would remedy syphilis.
