Family: Sunflower (Asteraceae)

Height: 2 -6' (60 -180 cm)

Flower Size: 4" (10 cm)

Flowering Season: August - October

Ecological Preferences: Dry, well drained soils

Select Characteristics: The often reddish stem may have several branches. The long, possibly seven feet, taproot allows for H. rigidus to compete well with other plants during dry periods.
