ENGR 1111 – ENGINEERING GRAPHICS

Course Description:  Introduction to Engineering Graphics.  Topics include pencil sketches, standards of engineering drawings, multi-view drawings, auxiliary drawings by rotations, and computer-aided design using Pro/ENGINEER.

 

Prerequisite:  MATH 1201 or concurrent enrollment

 

Textbook: 

Engineering Graphics Essentials (A Text and Lecture Aid) by Plantenberg

Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire Tutorial by Toogood

 

Grading:

Exams              3 x 20% = 60%

Homework      20%

Final Project   20%

 

A > 90%, B > 80%, C > 70%, D > 60%, F < 60%

 

Exams:  Exams will be closed book, closed notes, and will be drawing exams of various parts and objects.  There will be no make-up exams except under extreme cases determined at the discretion of the instructor, and only one make-up exam will be allowed.  In order to be even considered for a make-up exam, you must contact me no later than one day after the date for the exam.

 

Final Project: The final project will be design oriented.  A complete set of working drawings created using Pro/Engineer will be submitted.  A technical report describing the design will also be submitted, and a PowerPoint presentation will be given during the final exam period.

 

Homework:  Homework will be assigned, collected, and graded on a regular basis.  No late homework will be accepted, but your lowest two homework scores will be dropped.  Homework is due at the BEGINNING of class.  I will place an open folder at the front table of the room at the beginning of class.  After I close the folder, no homework will be accepted under ANY circumstances. You must show all work to receive full credit for your solution. 

 

Academic Dishonesty:  You are encouraged to work with others in the class.  However, I expect the work you turn in to be your own efforts.  Instances of academic dishonesty will be dealt with according to the regulations of Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

 

Class Conduct:  You are expected to be courteous towards the instructor and your classmates.  Lecture begins at 10:00am.  You are expected to be on time for lecture.  Cell phones should be turned off during lecture.  You should not talk to your classmates while I am talking or while one of your classmates is asking a question.  If you have a question about the course material, ask me and I will be more than happy to answer your question.
