Questions for Analysis

1.  What is your impression of the writer?  What "persona" have they created in their essay?  What is their attitude toward their medical condition or disease?  What tone do they use?

2.  What do they write about other people who have the same medical condition or disease that they have?

3.  What do they write about other people who do not have the same medical condition or disease that they have?

4.  How thoroughly do they describe and explain the medical condition or disease that they have?

5.  How do they write about their doctors and/or other health care professionals?

6.  What descriptions, images, unique phrases, etc. most catch your eye as you read?
