Prewriting for Essay #1

1.) Do you have any "physical / medical" -- or -- "psychological / mental" characteristics that have helped or hindered you in your education? Write about HOW what you have has specifically helped or hindered you.

Consider everything: seeing, hearing, speech, mobility (such as arms, hands, legs, feet), learning issues (such as dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, etc.), psychological issues (such as social anxiety, depression, bipolar, etc.), heart (such as arrhythmia), lungs (such as asthma), etc.

If you do not have any of these things, write about that, how not having these things has helped (or even hindered) you.

2.) How can labels, such as "LD" or "gifted" (or words such as "disability," "disorder," "disease," "difference," etc.), help or hinder students in school?
