Hello Everyone!  Ever wondered what you should be doing to get ready for college?  As you go through high school, there are specific tasks you will want to complete.  Check out the recommendations below for each grade level.

Freshmen    Keep working on your study habits.  It is important that you figure out how you learn the best.  Your GPA does matter now.  Make sure you are turning in your homework and studying for tests.

Sophomores    You may have figured out how you learn the best, but make sure that you are putting those study techniques into practice.  This is the time to start thinking about the ACT's.  Take the PLAN test that is offered at your high school.  This will give you an idea of areas to study to prepare for the ACT next year.   If you are not sure what to do, ask your advisor.  It is never too early to start getting ready

Juniors    I have three letters for you:  A C T.  This year should be focused on getting ready to take the ACT.  Upward Bound will be offering may ACT workshops.  It is recommended that you attend these workshops.  In addition to the workshops, a pre-test will be given in November to assist you in knowing the areas that you should be focusing on to get ready.  Do not think that you can wait until the week before the test to study.  A little at a time is better than a big cram session.

Seniors
The fall will be filled with applications.   The senior retreat will be on Thursday and Friday of MEA weekend.  At the retreat, we will help you set up a timeline as to when everything should be done, help you with college applications, and answer all those questions.  Make sure to get copies of applications to schools that you are interested in applying for admission. Pay special attention to any deadlines that may be coming up.
