Read the book chapter by John R. Vokey on subliminal messages at http://people.uleth.ca/~vokey/pdf/Submess.pdf then complete the following assignment.
Vokey ends his chapter with the following quote,
“Perhaps the next time somebody tells you in whispered tones about the infamous “Popcorn and Coke” study as support for how some subliminal audiotape taught “this man” calculus while he was sleeping, you can set them straight.”
Use the information presented in the Vokey chapter to construct a one page (single-spaced, typed) argument that you could use in response to a person who insists that subliminal messages are effective. Be sure to put the information into your own words and to properly cite any direct direct quotes you use (these should be minimal). Failure to do so will be considered plagiarism.
