As noted in the text, memory researchers have become increasingly skeptical about Freud's concept of memory repression and are challenging its validity. At the same time, a rash of new court cases have involved therapeutically "recovered" memories of traumatic childhood events. In the space below, explain to a person unfamiliar with this topic why psychologists have become increasingly skeptical about the reliability of “recovered” memories.
