David Alto
David began his
career at ARCC as
the Athletic
Director and Head
Softball Coach in
2009. He
is also the
Assistant
Women's Basketball
Coach and teaches
activity courses,
such as tennis,
basketball, and
softball. He
holds a MS from
Moorhead State
University, MA from
Hamline University,
and coaching
licensure. He has
finished 3 Twin
Cities marathons.

Nancy Boatman
Nancy teaches
Drugs, Alcohol and
Tobacco, Nutrition,
and other Health
courses on the
Cambridge and Coon
Rapids campuses and
for College on Your
Corner. She
holds a B.S. in Home
Economics Extension
from the University
of Minnesota and a
M.S. in Food Science
and Nutrition from
the University of
Wisconsin-Stout.
She has taught
Health and Nutrition
courses for many
years and has been a
Health Coach for
corporate wellness.
She is a certified
ServSafe and Master
Food Preserver
instructor and
enjoys gourmet
cooking, gardening
and traveling.

Gary Cook
Gary's areas of
expertise are Drug
Education and
Consumer health,
which is why he is
one of the primary
instructors for HPER
1102 and HPER 1108.
He holds a B.S. in
Health Education
from Bemidji State
University and
a M.ED. - Teaching
and learning of
Health education
from St. Mary’s
University. He
began teaching at
ARCC in 2003.

simply my children."

Hippen
Lois teaches Fitness
Walking, Aerobic
Fitness, Weight
Training,
Intermediate Weight
Training, Bowling
and Wellness for
Life on the Coon
Rapids Campus. She
holds a B.S. in
Kinesiology and
Public Health and
M.E in Kinesiology
with an emphasis in
Sports Management
from the University
of Minnesota.
Currently, Lois is
completing a PhD in
Kinesiology with an
emphasis in Sport
Management and her
dissertation will
cover issues with
the sport of
football, equity
within athletic
departments and how
this influences
opinions on Title IX
legislation. She has
completed 16
marathons and
previously was a marathon
training coach and
an Assistant Running
Club Director at
Life Time Fitness.

Robert
"Mike" Goldman
Mike has been a
faculty member at
ARCC since 2005 and
teaches a wide
variety of Health
and PE classes.
Before coming to
ARCC, Mike taught
for 13 years at
Bethel University.
He also coached at
the collegiate level
for 21 years with
expertise in Track &
Field and
Competitive
Swimming. Mike holds
a B.S. in Health &
Physical Education
from Iowa State
University and a
M.Ed. in Physical
Education from the
University of
Minnesota. He is
currently working
towards a Masters
degree in Health
from Bemidji State
University.

Jill Gromberg
Jill, a Registered
Dietitian (RD),
has earned a B.S. in
Nutrition from the
College of St.
Benedict and a
Master of Science in
Exercise
Physiology/Exercise
Science from St.
Cloud State
University. Her
expertise in
nutrition and
exercise science is
appreciated in the
Nutrition,
Introduction to
Exercise Physiology
& Kinesiology, and
Exercise Testing
& Exercise
Prescription classes
that she teaches.
Jill has co-authored
the
Simply Good Eating
curriculum series
through the
University of
Minnesota Extension
Service and the
College of Human
Ecology.

Chris Katke
Chris began her
academic career by
earning an A.A.
degree at
Anoka-Ramsey
Community College.
Since, she has
obtained a B.S. in
Sports Studies and
M.Ed in Applied
Kinesiology from the
University of
Minnesota. She
is a certified
instructor through
the American Red
Cross, The American
Heart Association,
and American Academy
of Orthopedic
Surgeons. Classes
she regularly
teaches include
First Aid & CPR,
Prevention and Care
of Athletic
Injuries, Coaching
Theory, Introduction
to Sport Management,
Snowboarding, and
Tennis. When
off campus, she may
be found
officiating area
basketball games.

Dawn Kennedy
"A calm sea

a quote you may hear
in the Nutrition,
Wellness for Life,
and Drugs, Alcohol,
and Tobacco classes
that Dawn teaches.
Dawn holds an Ed.S.
(Educational
Specialist) degree
from St. Thomas as
well as a K-12
Principal's
certification.
She has served on
many local, district
and state level
committees and has
presented health and
education related
material at the
Annual State Health
Conferences for many
years. Dawn
began teaching at
ARCC Spring, 2010.

Jillayn
Quaschnick
Jillayn teaches
various fitness
classes on the Coon
Rapids campus. She
earned a B.A. in
Physical Education
from Concordia
College-Mhd and a
Master's degree from
South Dakota State
University.

ARCC, she was an
instructor at
Century College.
Jillayn is also a
BLS Instructor
through the American
Heart Association
and a member of
AAHPHERD.

Peter Wahlstrom
Teaching at ARCC
since 2001, Peter
instructs the HPER
144: Camping
(Wilderness
Challenge) and HPER
1173: Taekwondo
classes on the
Cambridge Campus
along with courses
in Humanities. He
holds a
4th
Degree Black Belt
from Kim’s Taekwondo
Center and is
Kukkiwon certified.
His educational
background also
includes a
BA in
Classical
Civilization,
MA in Classical
Studies,
and Secondary
Ed. Social Studies
Teaching License
from the
University of
Minnesota.

for environmental
activism, exercise
and fitness,
reading, and

Wendy primarily
