       Scott Stankey

Scott has been on the ARCC English faculty since 1994, and he regularly teaches developmental writing, college composition, American literature, Minnesota literature, Short Stories, and Introduction to Literature.

Scott attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he received both his Bachelor of Science degree in English (with a minor in Chemistry) and his Master of Arts degree in English; his master’s thesis examined the “philosophies of composition” in the prose of Robert Frost and William Wordsworth.  He has continued to take graduate courses in English and Education at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and he received a Certificate in Post-Secondary Developmental Education in 2009.

Scott’s areas of academic interest include 21st century writing and technology, early American literature, Minnesota literature, Jon Hassler, August Wilson, and graphic fiction.  With colleagues from the ARCC English Department, Scott has given many presentations at regional and national English conferences.  In addition to publishing a short personal narrative in 2000, he also had several articles accepted for the Robert Frost Encyclopedia (2001).

Scott and his wife Joann love to travel and have been to various places in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, China, England, and Africa.  They live, with their “high-maintenance” cat, Charm, in Saint Paul.
