Step 1--Band Saw

The Band Saw is used to make detailed cuts. It is especially useful for making more ornate objects, such as intricately detailed molding pieces. It is also very useful for cutting curves in smaller pieces of wood. For larger pieces of wood, use the jig saw.
The first step in using the band saw is to adjust the blade arm up or down, allowing about 1/2" clearance between the bottom of the arm and the material. It is important to do this to give the blade stability.

Use the knob on the side of the unit to loosen the set screw of the arm. Raise or lower the arm manually, then tighten the set screw again.
