Officers (from the Chapter's
Bylaws) If you want to run for any office, please self nominate by sending an email to Michelle. These are the positions: Section 1.
Officers. The officers
shall consist of a president, four (4) hallmark vice
presidents, a
vice president of public relations, a vice president of technology
and a secretary.
Section 2.
Duties. All officers will
be required to attend board meetings. If unable to
attend, officer
must submit a written report 24 hours
prior to the board meeting.
Dismissal will occur after two (2) unexcused absences from board
meetings. Additionally, they
will be required to maintain complete files and records documenting all
activities in which they participate. In addition to the duties listed
below, it is expected that some crossing-over of duties will occur:
A.
President.
Preside over all chapter meetings; appoint and establish any necessary
committees; vote only in case of a tie; serve as an ex-officio member on all
committees; present business to the organization; represent the organization
at all times; develop goals for the chapter with the help of the advisor and
other officers; supervise orientation and induction of new members; send
monthly chapter update forms to the international office; and promote
involvement of all members, especially new inductees.
B.
Vice Presidents.
In the order listed below the vice presidents shall assume the functions of
the president in his/her absence. each vice president of a hallmark
(leadership, scholarship, service and fellowship) will be responsible for
preparing the Hallmark Award entries related to their area. Additionally,
each vice president will assume the following duties:
1.
Vice President
of Leadership.
Responsible for developing a leadership committee for the purpose of
planning and implementing any chapter-sponsored leadership activities;
supervising and coordinating all aspects of the enhanced membership option
program; and coordinating officer elections.
2.
Vice President
of Scholarship.
Responsible for developing a scholarship committee for the purpose of
planning and implementing honors study topic projects and functions;
providing recognition to faculty members; providing information to members
regarding scholarship opportunities; and overseeing the facilitation of any
chapter-sponsored scholarships.
3.
Vice President
of Service.
Responsible for developing a service committee for the purpose of planning
and implementing the annual service project (which changes every year and
maintaining a liaison with the appropriate college official to facilitate
all chapter service projects.
4.
Vice President
of Technology.
Responsible for maintaining the chapter web site; assist technically
and work with the Vice President of Public Relations on determining
what chapter information should be placed on web page; taking photographs of
chapter events; and assist Historian
with electronic records.
5.
Vice President
of Fellowship.
Responsible for developing a fellowship committee for the purpose of
planning an implementing the chapter’s social activities; arranges
fellowship meetings with other chapter (i.e., buddy chapters); and assisting
the vice president of public relations in the preparation and production of
the chapter newsletter and other chapter publications.
6.
Vice President
of Public Relations.
Responsible for developing a public relations committee for the purpose of
planning and implementing the promotion of Phi Theta Kappa on- and
off-campus by keeping a full record of chapter functions (newsletters);
being responsible for the preparation and production of the chapter’s
monthly newsletter; maintain a relationship with
the Salmagundi at
Anoka-Ramsey Community College; sending news report forms to the
international headquarters; office and the regional newsletter; preparing
information regarding the chapter for the regional newsletter; and preparing
and maintaining the chapter yearbook for regional meetings and the annual
convention with assistance from other chapter officers and members.
7.
Historian.
Takes minutes of the meetings; maintains records of meetings; maintains a
file of chapter correspondence; places all (typed) records in the official
record book (may be electronic) at the end of each academic year; presents a
financial report at each board meeting; and works with the vice president of
public relations in the preparation and production of the chapter’s monthly
newsletter. |
