Child and Adolescent Development

Application Project

100 points

As part of the requirements for this course, all students will complete an application project. This project should be directly related to one specific topic covered in the course. It should result in an end product that either parents/teachers can use with their children or children can use themselves. The end product must be your ORIGINAL work. Some examples from last semester include:

bullet
children’s book
bullet
board game
bullet
lesson plans
bullet
children’s website
bullet
educational toys
bullet
parent’s guide to…

This is an opportunity for you to be creative.  Do not feel that you must produce one of the above items.  Have fun with this. You will be spending many hours working on this project throughout the remainder of the semester. Make sure you pick something that you will enjoy.

You may choose to work on the application project by yourself or in a group of 2-3. You may not have more than 3 people in one group. If you choose to work in a group, your group will produce only one end product. However, each student must submit their own 5 page paper explaining the theory behind their product. Each paper should reflect the students own work and writing style. Even if students work in groups on the project, everyone will be graded individually based on the quality of their paper discussing the project.

All students will be required to present their projects to the class at the end of the course. Students working in groups will present as a group. Presentations will take place over 2 days at the end of the semester. (See schedule of assignments for dates.) In addition to presenting your own project, each student will be required to evaluate the other presentations/projects.
