Jennifer
is happy to
be part of
the Reading
faculty here
at ARCC.
She has been
on the ARCC
faculty
since spring
of 2009 and
has taught
Preparing
for College
Reading,
Reading II,
and How to
Study at
ARCC.
Before
coming to
Anoka
Ramsey, she
taught
reading and
study skills
courses at
Inver Hills
Community
College, as
well as
undergraduate
and graduate
educational
psychology
courses at
the
University
of
Minnesota.
She earned a
B.A. degree
in
Psychology
from the
University
of
Wisconsin-Madison,
and M.A. and
Ph.D.
degrees in
Educational
Psychology
from the
University
of
Minnesota.
She
completed
her graduate
training in
reading
research at
the
University
of Minnesota
in 2008,
where she
studied the
reading
strategies
of students
who overcame
their
reading
struggles to
successfully
complete
college
coursework.
Her
scholarly
interests
include
literacy
instruction
methods,
reading
fluency,
reading
comprehension,
critical
reading,
paraphrasing,
learning
English as a
foreign
language,
dyslexia,
metacognition,
linguistics,
oral
language,
and
communication
in online
courses.
She is a
member of
the
Minnesota
Association
for
Developmental
Education
(MNADE), the
American
Educational
Research
Association
(AERA),
International
Reading
Association
(IRA), and
the
International
Dyslexia
Association
(IDA).
Jennifer
enjoys
reading fun
fiction,
gardening in
her
backyard,
listening to
music and
trying new
restaurants.
