Third, you need to know how to set the safety guard. It must be adjusted to work with the size material you are using and the size cut you are making.

You can move the guard cover in and out by using the two ajustment knobs on either side of the guard base. Be sure to move the guard out enough that the blade is covered.

 

 

 

 

 

You can raise and lower the guard using the crank handle located on the top of the guard base. Be sure the guard is high enough to allow the material to move beneath it, yet low enough to deflect chips and other flying objects. Even with the guard in place, you must still use safety goggles.
