Service Hallmark
Bora Kuyomba, Vice President of Service

Habari (that means hi in Swahili)

My name is Bora Kuyomba and I'm the Vice President of Service.  This years international service project "Operation Green" focuses on improving our communities by keeping it green and keeping it clean.  As a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you can stand in protecting our environment by being involved in various activities that would help reduce the destruction of the environment.  I believe that each person holds an obligation to protect the environment and make real differences.

"Tuna dunia moja, tushikamane kuitunza"

That means "We have one world, lets join hands and protect it"

For more information on how you can make a difference or about the service hallmark feel free to email me at

A strong commitment to service has always been a major focus of Phi Theta Kappa's mission.  The Society endorses the concept of service to the college and community as a scholarly responsibility.  To most effectively concentrate the resources of Phi Theta Kappa's "army of scholars," the Society selects an International Service Program to become the focus of service activities carried out by chapters.

International Service Program for 2006-2008

 Operation Green: Improving Our Communities

Phi Theta Kappa has teamed up with Keep America Beautiful, Inc. to show each citizen that they have an obligation to protect the environment and can make a real difference with their daily actions and choices.  Keep America Beautiful challenges Phi Theta Kappa chapters to look closely at the needs of your community, to engage your faculty members and fellow students in meaningful action, to broadcast your successes, to educate, and, above all, to take personal responsibility for the world around you. If we accomplish this together, we will all be doing our part to keep America beautiful.

For the program period of 2006 - 08, Phi Theta Kappa chapters are encouraged to undertake improving community environments in four major areas:
